I’m drawn to intriguing people and compromising situations, to stories that unpick assumptions and challenge received ideas about the world. I like to build multiple points of view into my films, letting audiences decide whose outlook to embrace.
Covering wide geographic and linguistic terrain, my films follow strong characters navigating unique personal journeys. Whether digging into decades of family trauma in Northern Italy, following a tireless detective intent on solving a child murder, or grappling with the hard choices facing farming communities in rural Africa, I bring a sensitive and creative vision to every project I throw myself into. My work straddles observational documentary, docu-drama and narrative. I have extensive experience in true-crime, cyber, history, and international development storytelling.
Through my production company, Normal Life Pictures, I nurture independent films from conception to completion. As a for-hire director, I frequently collaborate with leading production companies and independent producers.  And I co-direct films when the story benefits from additional directorial points of view.
My work has shown at festivals, on streamers and via international broadcast. I have also been fortunate to win several major awards, including two Peabodys, an Italian Golden Globe, and the Tribeca Film Festival Best Documentary. I'm a member of BAFTA, the DGA and Directors UK. I am a US/UK/EU tri-national and speak Italian and French fluently.
In 2025, after 25 years of documentary filmmaking, I wrote and directed my first narrative film, the short ‘Tank Boy’.
